About Jack Perry
I'm Jack Perry, founder and lead plumber at Hawai'i Plumbing & Drain Cleaning Squad. I started this company in January 2018 after spending years working for other plumbing outfits on Oahu and realizing that most of them were more interested in upselling homeowners than actually fixing their problems. I built this company on one principle: treat every customer the way I'd want my own family treated.
I was born and raised on Oahu. I know this island — the hard water in Ewa Beach that eats through water heaters in 6 years instead of 12, the tree roots in Kailua that find their way into every sewer line, the older homes in Waianae with galvanized pipes that are long overdue for repiping. I've seen it all, and I've fixed it all. That local knowledge is something you can't get from a mainland franchise.
In 8 years of running this business, my team and I have responded to thousands of plumbing calls across Oahu — from Kapolei to Kailua, from the North Shore to Hawaii Kai. We've cleared drains clogged with everything from baby wipes to tree roots the size of your arm. We've replaced water heaters in tight utility closets in Honolulu condos and run new sewer lines under 60-year-old homes in Waianae. Every job teaches you something.
I write these blog posts because I want Oahu homeowners to have real information — not the generic stuff you find on mainland plumbing websites that has nothing to do with Hawaii's unique conditions. When I write about water heaters, I'm writing from experience fixing hundreds of them on this island. When I write about drain clogs, I'm writing from memory of the actual jobs. That's the only kind of advice worth reading.

Why I Write These Articles
Most plumbing content online is written by marketing agencies or AI tools that have never touched a pipe. It's generic, it ignores Hawaii's specific conditions, and it doesn't help you make real decisions about your home.
Every article on this blog comes from my actual experience working on Oahu. When I tell you that hard water in Ewa Beach shortens water heater life, I'm telling you because I've replaced hundreds of them. When I describe what a sewer line root intrusion looks like on camera, I'm describing what I've seen on job sites in Kailua and Kaneohe. This is real information from a real plumber who works on this island every day.
